Totalkiss.com goes live

April 24th, 2009

The digital team at KISS are very (very) excited to announce the launch of the brand new totalkiss.com!

We’ve been testing the beta version of the new site for a couple of weeks now and the feedback has been fantastic. The new site has a whole host of interactive features for the KISS audience as well as some creative new propositions for our commercial partners.

The new home page is an industry first for commercial radio - running ad-free! We’ll be trialing the format and offering creative commercial takeovers and integrated advertising options, similar to our work on the KUBE.

Bruce Mitchell Head of Digital for KISS says, “Homepage advertising should be about providing something unexpected and creative rather than predictable. Users should feel our commercial partners are brands we value working with, and their message should be presented in a way our users will react well too.”

Kurt Edwards from Bauer Advertising says, “In a difficult market where the only thing that matters to advertisers is creating a difference, KISS truly sets itself apart by offering a unique proposition.”

The home page will also have a strong focus on video with pre-roll spots available - another new, interactive way for advertisers to get their message across.

“The site also harnesses ‘web 2.0’ with a strong emphasis on social media tools and a dynamic interactive interface.” Bruce says, “From a technical perspective it’s a bit of a revolution for us, using a back-bone of ‘open source’ but it allows us to tap into a huge developer community and integrate functionality fast.”

The new site has officially launched - but we’re not done yet. We’ll be developing totalkiss.com over the coming months to fine-tune what we’ve already built as well as building exciting, new properties.

“We live in a world of perpetual beta, so we can test prototypes in the field, then feed them back into a wider plan. It’s a much more flexible way of developing and brings products to market much faster.” says Bruce.

KUBE Mobile

March 21st, 2009

A good part of what we do on totalkiss.com is about using technology to help our end users access and enjoy KISS content as easily as possible, and on as many platforms as possible, so we are pleased to announce a maturing ‘next step’ on our mobile platform.

This week we launched ‘KISS KUBE mobile‘ bringing full listen again functionality to the iPhone/iPod Touch platform allowing users to catch-up on the last 7 days of KISS. The service also builds on the existing listen live stream with ‘now and next’ schedule information.

KUBE MOBILE brings all the familiar functions of ‘search‘, ‘recommended‘ and ‘most listened‘ as well as instant access to KISS interviews and you can access KUBE mobile by heading to totalkiss.com/kube on your Safari browser.

KUBE mobile is a web app, which means it runs from your device browser rather than downloading from the apps store. We’ve taken this approach for now because it allows us to be flexible with our development and commercial opportunities. Over the coming weeks we’ll be building on the current functionality and providing users with new and exciting ways to interact with KISS.

Welcome

February 7th, 2009

So this is the first post in what are bound to be a long line of posts, espousing the virtues of our favorite website, and hopefully yours, totalkiss.com So perhaps a little introduction is needed?

OK, what’s this blog all about then? Well, it’s aimed at helping trade, press and sales minded people alike through the maze of facts and figures, terms and titles that surround totalkiss.com.  Our aim is to present this information as simply and succinctly as possible in bite (byte..) sized chunks that can ease your understanding of our web wide world.

Sounds good, what you gonna talk about then? We (and i say ‘we’ because other team members will also be contributing) will cover everything from market position, new launches, feedback and suggestions, special events, speaking engagements and new technologies. We’ll have a look at what trends are emerging on the web and what totalkiss is doing to help spread the ‘The Word’, of KISS.

I can tell already you’re gonna bore me silly. Hopefully not, we want to write this in an engaging, fun KISS kinda way. It will cover the stuff you need and give you an insight into future directions we will be taking. Also, expect humour, bad or otherwise.

Who are you anyway? Ah, good question. I’m Bruce Mitchell and I head up KISS online across the network. You can catch me here, or on Twitter ‘radiobefour’ and don’t forget to hit up ‘totalkiss’ on Twitter and Facebook as well. Like i said, other members of the team will be writing too, so i’ll let them intro themselves.

Cheers and welcome,

Bruce
